Curator’s Corner

Welcome to our Website, where we hope you will get a taste of what awaits you when you visit our Museum. Our exhibits range in a timeframe from pre-history until the present. In size, we have items from thimbles to broom making machines. In value, we have items from worthless coal mine shale to a priceless 500 year-old book.

In the Museum, we attempt to show the history of the Big Sandy Valley from the time Native Americans walked the Valley until the time we cut-through the mountains to make room for the river, the road and the railroad. We are proud to show our heritage from the tragedy of wars and feuds to the triumph of our successes in survival and growth.

We thank the multitude of people who have loaned and donated their treasured items, so that we can all enjoy viewing and learning from them.
